Stanleys Make Their Return With 'Pass The Time'

After disappearing over the last year, the Wigan-based band Stanleys have been teasing a comeback. Fans started to notice ‘missing’ posters plastered around Manchester, and finally the band officially broke the silence, announcing their brand-new single along with a headline gig at the historic Night and Day Café.

The new single, ‘Pass The Time’, released on the 20th of February, is a great way for them to kick off their highly anticipated return, demonstrating a more mature and refined sound while also retaining the northern soul their fans love.

The lyrics are simple and catchy, while tapping into more emotional and personal themes than previous tracks, accompanied by an overall more sophisticated sound. A consistent bassline runs throughout, maintaining the tension and energy of the song, while the drums and guitars build, creating a fast-paced panic that reflects the song's lyrics.

After a continuous build throughout the first half of the song, the track slows down for the bridge with an airy and relaxed feel. Letting the vocals float over the music allows you to take an unexpected break from the anxiety of the previous chorus and verses, adding more depth to the typical indie music you are used to.

They finish off by jumping straight back into the high-energy chorus, turning what could very easily be a predictable, one-note indie song into a dynamic, well thought out track, all in the space of two and a half minutes.

While the band's sound has evolved, they have managed to stay true to who they are. With all the indie bands coming out of Manchester at the moment, Stanleys are definitely one to watch!
