London-based pop artist Rose Gray put on a non-stop dance performance at Manchester’s
Gorilla. The singer-songwriter played crowd favourites from previous albums, including her
January album ‘Louder, Please’ alongside the hit song ‘Lotus’ from her most recent album ‘A Little Louder, Please’, set to release on 24th October. Despite the venue capacity being just over 500 people, Rose kept the crowd moving from start to finish.
The intimate setting allowed her to interact with the audience, joining them on the floor and
throwing her iconic roses into the audience at the end of the show.
Even though her music falls under the dance genre, it certainly doesn’t take away from her
impeccable vocals, echoing around the room during her performance. Her closing song “April” really showcases her ability. The build-up of the song from the more mellow beginning through to her classic party-like chorus really establishes Rose’s unique style.
Rose’s confidence on stage is infectious. Wearing a white shirt, dress, and sunglasses (as well as her glorious long red hair) really radiated the positive energy around the room. Rose also connects with the audience, expressing her gratitude to her fans, alongside being a big
supporter of the queer community.
She played her smash song “Free”, which has over 3 million listens on Spotify. Its electric sound mixed with her heavenly vocals really did bring the crowd to life. Her songs reflect her love and admiration for dance music, including her song “Party People” which mirrors the saturated and busy background of her London city life.
Her songwriting talent should not go unnoticed, with her previous collaborations with Kesha and Slayyyter. She sure knows what she is doing when it comes to writing tunes! Rose definitely has a bright future in songwriting and performing and is one hundred percent an artist to keep an eye on.
